The future that I have written about in my first journal entry is a dramatized version of the western world we see now. In asking the question of how this potential future can be prevented, the best thing to do is ultimately to not do anything. What I mean by this is do not do anything that will obviously impact your world, as well as the world around you, in a negative way. Citizens should be aware of the potential consequences that modern technologies pose. In order for them to live in a less chaotic world with so many unpredictable outcomes, they should be aware of the politics that are happening all around the world. A main focus for Americans should be specifically how the U.S. is dealing with foreign politics, as well as capitalism. No matter the opinion on this subject, people should come to realize that these topics, and ones alike, are only going to become more intense over these next few years. People should prepare themselves by learning about important topics, like the ones I mentioned in my short story. When doing this, they should be able to engage in discussion with their peers and know how to respond to local news. People can work together to voice their opinions about certain subjects they feel are unfair to their status as law abiding citizens. They can vote for certain bills to be passed in their state, which can have an effect on other states. Citizens should do everything in their power to gain as much knowledge as they can, so they can support themselves in the present, which will help them prepare for future outcomes. This is not to say that they should expect a future like the one I have provided, but they should be prepared for the worst and actively work to know when mishaps might occur and how to prevent them.

In this future that I have created, I imagine that many people have given up hope for a better society, which I do not blame them for. In order to look at how I would actively prevent this future in modern day, I have to take into consideration future outcomes. In the world we live in now, much of what people discuss is based in the future, and not the present reality. Although I would scorn this strategy on its own, I feel that this way of thinking can be beneficial as long as actions are taken in the present after considering outcomes. Now, in not sounding repetitive or wishy-washy, here are specific actions I can take to help prevent a future like the one that I have described in my short story. I would have to become a leader. As a leader I would invite people to take direct action by taking on the root of all issues in America; a failing democracy. A true and well functioning democracy is the grand umbrella solution. Every problem, such as technology violations, international trade despair, climate solutions, and much more, are small in the grand scheme of things, and fall under the umbrella of democracy. This nation, as well as many others, struggle to accurately identify with their structure of government. I, Nathan Carrasco, will be a leader for those who want to join the fight, and restore an invisible sense of security within the U.S. government.
